Case Study

Collateral materials helped them match it.
Historic Tax Credit consulting services allowed them secure another $125,000.
Approach
Using an integrated approach, we work with clients and their communities to preserve the places they care about. We do this by documenting significance, analyzing needs, and identifying financial and human resources.
Documenting the significance of a place begins in dialogue with the people who occupy it today and, if possible, those who did so in the past. Archival research can help uncover forgotten people and events, while examining materials, construction and design can reveal their origins and ingenuity.
Analyzing the needs of building, campus or community requires a thorough understanding of existing conditions. Knowing what works and what doesn’t, what is deteriorating and why, and who will occupy the space now and in the future helps inform our recommendations for maintenance, upgrades, and alterations.
Finding the financial and human capital to help special places reach their full potential requires a working knowledge of tax incentives, grants, and fundraising strategies as well as the ability to make a clear and compelling case statement.
